Brooklyn Nets Signed Free Agent Guard Killian Hayes and Forward Tyrese Martin
BROOKLYN – The Brooklyn Nets have signed free agent guard Killian Hayes and forward Tyrese Martin. Per team policy, terms of the deals were not released.
Killian Hayes (6’4”, 206) spent his first four NBA seasons (2020-24) with the Detroit Pistons after being selected by the franchise with the seventh overall pick in the first round of the 2020 NBA Draft. In 210 career games (145 starts), he holds career averages of 8.1 points, 2.9 rebounds, 5.2 assists and 1.2 steals in 26.1 minutes per contest.
Among players from the 2020 draft class, Hayes currently ranks fifth in both assists (1,090) and steals (245).
The 23-year-old competed in a career-high 76 games (career-most 56 starts) during the 2022-23 campaign, notching averages of 10.3 points (career high), 2.9 rebounds, 6.2 assists (career high) and 1.4 steals (career high) over a career-leading 28.3 minutes per game.
Prior to his NBA career, the Cholet, France, native played one season (2019-20) with Ratiopharm Ulm of the German Basketball Bundesliga.
In 33 games (all starts) split between the German BBL, German Cup and EuroCup, Hayes tallied averages of 11.6 points, 2.8 rebounds, 5.4 assists and 1.5 steals across 24.8 minutes per game.
Tyrese Martin (6’6”, 212) spent last season with the Iowa Wolves, the NBA G League affiliate of the Minnesota Timberwolves, where he averaged 17.8 points, 8.0 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.0 steals over 35.1 minutes per game across 33 regular season contests (28 starts).
In 56 regular season games (51 starts) over two NBA G League seasons with Iowa and the College Park Skyhawks, Martin holds career averages of 17.9 points, 8.4 rebounds and 2.8 assists in 34.7 minutes per game.
The 25-year-old competed with Brooklyn’s NBA 2K25 Summer League entry in Las Vegas and posted averages of 10.8 points and 3.2 rebounds in 19.6 minutes per game over five appearances. Martin appeared in 16 NBA games as a reserve with the Atlanta Hawks during the 2022-23 season, averaging 1.3 points over 4.1 minutes per game.
Tyrese Martin was selected with the 51st overall pick in the second round of the 2022 NBA Draft by Golden State before his draft rights were traded to Atlanta.
The Allentown, Pa., native spent two years (2018-20) at the University of Rhode Island before concluding his collegiate career with two seasons (2020-22) at the University of Connecticut, where he earned 2022 All-Big East Tournament Team accolades as a senior.
