Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs Arrested in NYC Due to Allegations of Sex Trafficking
Hip Hop mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs, aka Puff Daddy, aka Brother Love, was arrested at a New York City hotel Monday night amid a federal sex trafficking investigation, officials said.
Combs voluntarily traveled to Manhattan, New York, in anticipation of his arrest on charges stemming from a grand jury indictment, according to sources.
Combs was taken into custody at the Park Hyatt New York by Homeland Security, which typically handles sex trafficking investigations.
It was not immediately clear Monday what charges Combs is facing. He is expected to be arraigned at Manhattan federal court Tuesday morning — at which point the indictment with the charges against him will be unsealed.
According to the US Attorney for the Southern District of New York, Damian Williams, federal agents arrested Sean Combs, based on a sealed indictment filed by the SDNY.
“We expect to move to unseal the indictment in the morning and will have more to say at that time”, says Damian Williams.
Combs has also been accused of a long pattern of domestic violence against his former partner, R&B singer Cassie Ventura.
Ventura sued Combs in November, and the pair quickly settled. But a distressing video of him assaulting Ventura in a hotel hallway in 2016 recently resurfaced — prompting a new round of allegations against Sean Combs.
In March, Sean Combs’ Beverly Hills mansion was also raided by Homeland Security. It’s unclear what the agents were looking for during the raid, but it’s believed to be part of a sex-trafficking investigation.
“We are disappointed with the decision to pursue what we believe is an unjust prosecution of Mr. Combs by the U.S. Attorney’s Office. Sean “Diddy” Combs is a music icon, self-made entrepreneur, loving family man, and proven philanthropist who has spent the last 30 years building an empire, adoring his children, and working to uplift the Black community,” says Combs’ attorney Marc Agnifilo.
